Instructions for Use

  1. Register & Create Your Password
    If you haven't already done so, register by clicking on "Get Started Now" and provide the information requested. The password creation function will ensure that you select a secure and unique password. Please memorize your password if you can, and write it down somewhere safe.   2. Login Enter your username and password. The vault door will open and you will be taken inside to your File Cabinet.
  3. Easily Insert (Upload) One of Your Files
    1. Open the Drawer of your choice by scrolling your mouse over it and clicking. The Drawer will roll open.
    2. If you want to use one of the pre-named Folders, click to open it. If not, create a new Folder (see instructions later in this guide).
    3. Once you're inside a Folder, click "Add Files," located on the top right of the user interface.
    4. A new box will open. Use the drop down box to choose which folder you would like to add files to.
    5. Next, click on the "Browse" button to find the File on your computer, and follow the prompts to select it. You may choose multiple files by holding down your shift key and clicking one file at a time.
    6. Once the File is in the browser, click "Open," and watch the upload occur.

    Repeat this to add more files.

    Note: Any file type is acceptable. The larger your file, such as a video, the longer it may take to upload.

  4. Move a File
    Scroll over the File and click "Move." Follow the prompts to select a different Folder.
  5. Delete a File
    Scroll over the File and click on "Delete."
  6. Close a Drawer
    To close a Drawer, click the "Close Drawer" button.
  7. Close a Folder
    To work in another Folder, close the opened Folder by clicking "Close" on the top right.
  8. Create a New Folder
    To create a new Folder, go in the Drawer of your choice, and click on the "Add Folder" located below the Folder. You can name the Folder anything you want. It will be arranged alphabetically in the Drawer.
  9. Move a Folder to Another Drawer
    Open the Drawer containing the Folder you want to move. At the bottom of the Drawer, click the "MOVE" icon. The prompts will help you select the Folder you want to move and the Drawer you want to move it into. (Folders will be ordered alphabetically in each Drawer.)
  10. Delete a Folder
    Open the Drawer which has the Folder you want to delete. At the bottom of the Drawer, click the "DELETE" icon and follow the prompts.
  11. Download, Views and Recover a File
    Use your mouse and scroll over a file. You will have the choice of "View", "Download" and "Rename". Click on the desired task and follow the prompts.
  12. Can I rearrange folders in the drawer?
    Each Drawer will automatically organize itself in alphabetical order. If you would like a folder to be at the front, you can label your folder with a number or a letter to start:

  13. Can I rename a folder?
    Yes you can.To rename a Folder, open that Folder, and at the bottom right, click on "Rename Folder." Rename the Folder as you wish. You may also see our QUICK STARTGUIDE
  14. What if I accidentally upload my file to the wrong folder?
    With your HomeDataGuard Account, you can easily move files from one folder to the next, even from one drawer to the next!
    Hint: You can also move entire folders from one drawer to the next.
  15. How do I use the email address assigned to my account?
    Emailing in to your Online File Cabinet is a new and easy feature that we hope makes your life easier! With your HomeDataGuard Account, you receive you own email address, which is displayed at the top of the "My Vault" page as well as on the "My Accounts" page. Please use this email address as another means to add files/photos/etc. directly into your Online File Cabinet. You may give your email address to advisors, family members, or whomever has something that you would like to keep in your account. You will receive a notification email letting you know a new file has been received. You will then have 30 days to login to your Online File Cabinet account adn "accept" the file into a folder. If you do not accept the file, it will be deleted after 30 days.
    Tip: The email message itself will not be received, only the files attached to the email.
